The Sundance® 6540-495 is a 40 square foot pleated filter cartridge for early-1990s Sundance spas. It fits the Allegro, the Tango from 1991 through 1999, the Calypso from 1990 to 1992, the 1991–1992 Marin, the 1991 Gemini, the 1991 and 1993 Montego, and mid-year 1991 Rio and Redondo models. If your spa is one of these and the old cartridge is torn, flattened, or no longer cleans up, this is the replacement part number to order.
The cartridge measures 16-3/4 inches long with a 4-5/8 inch outside diameter. It has a castle-style top and an open bottom with a roughly 2-inch (2-1/16 inch) opening. Measure your old filter before ordering: Sundance changed filter styles partway through the 1991 and 1992 model years on some models, so a Montego, Rio, or Redondo built before the change may use a different cartridge. If the length, diameter, or end caps don't match, contact us with your model and serial number and we'll help you find the right part.
Aftermarket equivalents for this size are sold as Unicel C-4440, Pleatco PSD40, and Filbur FC-2710. To keep the cartridge working well, rinse the pleats with a garden hose every few weeks and soak it periodically in a spa cartridge cleaner, then rinse thoroughly. Avoid laundry detergent, bleach, household cleaners, and pressure washers, which can damage the pleats or cause foaming. Replace the cartridge when the pleats are torn or matted, the end caps are cracked, or it no longer cleans up after a soak.
