In the late 1950s, Richard T. Meissner started a small part-time contract sewing operation. Meissner Mfg. Co., Inc. began manufacturing Anthony- Mackintosh swimming pool filter bags in the 1970s, and this led to D.E. grid element covering for several swimming pool filtration system manufacturers and, by the end of the 1970s, cartridge filter production for the industry’s OEMs. In 1985, Meissner Mfg. Co., Inc. introduced the UNICEL brand of filter elements as after-market replacements for the OEM products. Today, the UNICEL line is comprised of nearly 500 products that are manufactured in California with components sourced exclusively in the USA. Meissner Mfg. Co., Inc., dba UNICEL is still owned and operated by the Meissner family and continues to be recognized as an industry leader for its unsurpassed quality and world-class service.
