Product Overview
TEAR-AID® makes two different repair patch formulas, so getting the right one matters — this listing carries all three options as variants above.
Type B – Vinyl (Standard): our original vinyl patch kit repairs hot tub cover vinyl, inflatable spas, pool liners, vinyl pool toys, spa cover lifters, tarps, boat seats, and RV vinyl. Bonds instantly and cures to a permanent, flexible, waterproof seal.
Type B – Underwater: the same Type B vinyl-bonding patch material, packaged as TEAR-AID's dedicated underwater kit — one larger patch plus an application squeegee — built for emergency repairs you can't take out of the water, like a leaking pool liner or a deflating inflatable spa.
Type A – Fabric: a different adhesive formulation made for canvas, nylon, polyester, and other woven fabrics, such as the underside of some spa covers, tents, and outdoor gear. Type A and Type B are not interchangeable — using the wrong type on the wrong material won't bond properly.
Not sure which one you need? Check the FAQ below, or match your torn material and repair situation to the variant descriptions above before ordering.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most spa cover tops are vinyl, so Type B (Standard or Underwater) is usually right. Some cover undersides use a fabric liner, which needs Type A instead. Check which material is torn before ordering, or contact us if you're not sure.
-
Type A is formulated for canvas, nylon, polyester, and other woven fabrics. Type B is formulated for vinyl and vinyl-coated surfaces. They are not interchangeable — using the wrong type on the wrong material will result in a poor bond or repair failure.
-
Yes — inflatable spas are vinyl, so Type B is the right choice. The flexible patch moves with the material as it inflates and deflates and resists spa chemicals. Works on Intex, Coleman, and Bestway inflatable spas.
-
It's the same Type B vinyl-bonding patch material, packaged as TEAR-AID's dedicated emergency kit — it includes an application squeegee for pressing the patch on below the surface. Use it when you can't drain or dry the area first, like a leaking pool liner. The Standard Type B kit is best when you can clean and dry the surface.
-
When properly applied, TEAR-AID patches create a long-lasting repair — often outlasting the vinyl or fabric itself. The patch is UV- and chemical-resistant and won't crack or peel. Many customers report repairs lasting 5+ years with no degradation.
-
Yes — TEAR-AID bonds to vinyl and fabric regardless of brand, including Bullfrog, Jacuzzi, Sundance, Hot Spring, Caldera, Master Spas, and Marquis. Match the patch type to your cover's material, not its brand.
