Product Overview
The FROG® Serene™ Floating System (King Technology part 01-14-3883) is a complete bromine and mineral sanitizing system for hot tubs from 150 to 600 gallons. It includes a reusable green floating holder, one prefilled blue mineral cartridge and one prefilled bromine cartridge. The cartridges snap into the holder, and the holder floats freely in the spa, so there's nothing to plumb or install, and no bromine tablets or granules to measure.
The two cartridges work together. The mineral cartridge (silver chloride) lets you sanitize with a lower bromine level: FROG says up to 50% less bromine than the minimum ANSI-recommended 2.0 ppm, with an ideal range of 1.0 to 2.0 ppm. FROG also says the result is softer-feeling water with less chemical odor. You set the bromine cartridge's dial to match your spa size, from 0 for about 200 gallons up to 6 for 600 gallons. Then test daily for the first week with FROG test strips, adjusting one setting per day until the reading stays in range.
FROG rates each bromine cartridge for about 2 to 4 weeks and the mineral cartridge for about 4 months or until you drain and refill. Refills are the bromine cartridge (01-14-3824), the mineral cartridge (01-14-3812) and the cartridge kit with one mineral and three bromine cartridges (01-14-3856). Keep pH between 7.2 and 7.8 and total alkalinity between 80 and 120 ppm, and shock weekly or as needed with a non-chlorine shock such as FROG Maintain™. If you're switching from chlorine, drain and refill before starting, and don't use chlorine shock during initial setup.
