The TEAR-AID® Fabric Repair Kit Type A contains clear adhesive-backed patches designed to repair holes and tears in canvas, nylon, rubber, plastic and many other fabrics.
The patches are made from a high-performance elastomer with a matte finish that resists puncture, abrasion, UV sunlight and extreme temperatures.
They provide an airtight and watertight bond that holds even when stretched, making it ideal for tents, awnings, tarps, backpacks, and more.
Application requires no sewing or liquid adhesives—just cut the patch to size, peel back the liner, apply and squeegee firmly from the centre outward.
The see-through clear finish blends easily with any fabric color and the kit includes multiple sizes of patches plus alcohol prep pads for proper surface cleaning.

A: No — for vinyl or vinyl-coated items you should use TEAR-AID® Type B, which has adhesive adapted for vinyl oils.

A: The patches are designed to hold air and water under pressure, resist punctures and tears, and remain durable under UV, saltwater and extreme temperatures.

Q: Can I apply the patch underwater?

Directions

Clean and dry the surface thoroughly; use the included alcohol prep pads to remove oils or contaminants.

Cut the clear patch to size, rounding corners and extending about 1 inch beyond the edges of the tear.

Peel back ½″ of the liner and position the patch so the exposed edge anchors into the repair area.

Slowly remove the liner while pressing the patch firmly into place, applying pressure with a squeegee or your fingers from the centre outward to remove air bubbles.

Allow the patch to cure: initial adhesion occurs immediately, full adhesion within 24 hours under typical conditions.

For best results, avoid stretching or putting pressure on the patch during the first curing period.

After curing, use as normal and inspect periodically for any edge lifting or damage.
