This is the replacement reagent cartridge for Sundance® Spa Sense™, the automatic water-testing system Sundance developed with Sutro® for its hot tubs. The Spa Sense sensor uses this liquid-reagent cartridge to test your spa water automatically every day, measuring chlorine, pH, and total alkalinity, and sends the results to the SmartTub® app on your phone along with personalized dosing suggestions. Sundance's owner's manual calls for a new reagent cartridge every 3 months, so this one cartridge covers about a season of daily testing.
Spa Sense is offered as an optional upgrade on Sundance 780™ and 880™ Series hot tubs. New Spa Sense sensors ship without a cartridge installed so the reagents stay fresh, which means you'll need this cartridge to start testing on a new spa as well as for each 3-month replacement. Sutro notes that its cartridges are good for 3 months after the date printed on the box and that a used cartridge can't be reinstalled, so check the date when it arrives and install it promptly.
To replace the cartridge, follow the Spa Sense instructions in the SmartTub app or the Spa Sense manual, then let the system run its next daily test. Spa Sense doesn't replace your sanitizer, it tells you when and how much to add, so keep your usual chlorine and balancing products on hand. A set of spa test strips is also handy for spot checks between readings.
