Q: Is this system compatible with all Bullfrog® Spas?

A: No — It is designed for Bullfrog® Spas equipped with the Simplicity™ Filtration System (flat cartridge housing) and larger 8- & 9-seat M-Series™ or A-Series™ models. Older models or those with floating cartridge holders may require a different kit.

Q: What’s the difference between this XL version and the standard version?

A: The XL version includes a larger SmartChlor® cartridge—about 67% more chemistry—extending the service life per cartridge (up to 6 weeks) and is tailored for larger spas.

Q: Do I still need to test and shock my spa water?

A: Yes — while the system simplifies sanitation, you should continue to test pH, alkalinity and sanitizer weekly and apply a non-chlorine shock as recommended, typically about once a month.

Q: Can I retrofit this system into a spa without the Simplicity™ filter housing?

A: It may not fit or operate properly if the spa has a different filtration system or cartridge holder. Verify part numbers and holder type.

Confirm your spa uses the Simplicity™ filtration housing and is compatible with the XL kit.

Turn off spa circulation and power as needed before installation.

Open the in-line cartridge holder, insert the mineral cartridge into the lower chamber, then snap in the XL SmartChlor® cartridge into the upper chamber.

Close the cartridge holder and restart circulation.

Set the SmartChlor cartridge dial per spa size (refer to the manual).

Test water weekly, replace the mineral cartridge approximately every 4 months and the SmartChlor® cartridge every 5-6 weeks (usage dependent). Shock only once per month under normal conditions.
