SpaGuard® pH Increaser – 18 oz Granular Spa Water Balancer

SpaGuard® pH Increaser is a quick-dissolving granular formula designed to raise dangerously low pH in spa water. Low pH makes water acidic enough to irritate skin and eyes, corrode metal fittings and heater elements, and etch spa surfaces over time, so it's one of the first things worth correcting during routine water testing.

The formula is 100% sodium carbonate (soda ash), added gradually per the label's dosing chart to bring pH back into the 7.2–7.6 range. Let it dissolve fully and circulate before retesting and re-entering the spa. Like SpaGuard's other pH products, this 18 oz container is sanitizer-neutral and works equally well with chlorine, bromine, ozone, salt, or mineral systems.

Soda ash is an eye and skin irritant in concentrated form, so mix it only with water — never combine it directly with other spa chemicals. Keeping pH in the correct range also helps your sanitizer work more efficiently, so you typically use less of it overall.

For the most stable results, balance total alkalinity into the 80–120 ppm range before fine-tuning pH, since alkalinity acts as a buffer and unstable alkalinity will just pull pH back out of range again. After adding this product, run the jets for at least 30 minutes to fully circulate and dissolve it before retesting — testing too soon is the most common reason people think a treatment didn't work when it just hasn't finished circulating yet.
