Product Overview
Devcon® 14300 Plastic Welder is a toughened, two-part methacrylate structural adhesive built for high-strength bonds on rigid plastics, fiberglass, and metal. It's a genuine ITW Performance Polymers / Devcon product, supplied in a 25 ml Dev-Tube cartridge with a built-in static mixer for easy 1:1 dispensing.
Once mixed, the straw-colored adhesive has a 4–6 minute working time and reaches fixture strength in 10–15 minutes, with a full structural cure in 24 hours at room temperature. Cured bonds hold up to 1,300–3,500 psi in tensile lap shear (depending on substrate) and 35–40 pli in peel strength, with a service range of -67°F to 250°F, making it suitable for both indoor repairs and outdoor, weather-exposed plastic parts.
Plastic Welder bonds PVC, ABS, fiberglass, and other engineered plastics, plus metal and wood, even on surfaces that aren't perfectly clean or prepped. On the spa side, that makes it a practical option for repairing cracks or breaks in rigid plastic cabinet panels, skirting, and similar hard plastic components. Note that this is a general-purpose industrial adhesive, not a product Devcon markets specifically for hot tubs, so always test on an inconspicuous area first and confirm it suits your specific repair before committing to a visible surface.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
It bonds a wide range of rigid materials, including PVC, ABS, fiberglass, FRT, PBT, PPO, epoxy, metal, and wood — useful for structural repairs on plastic spa cabinet panels and similar rigid components.
-
It reaches handling (fixture) strength in about 10–15 minutes and full structural cure in 24 hours at room temperature. You have a 4–6 minute working time after mixing to position your repair.
-
No — Plastic Welder is a general-purpose industrial adhesive from Devcon/ITW Performance Polymers. We carry it because its material compatibility (PVC, ABS, fiberglass) makes it a practical option for repairing rigid plastic spa cabinet and trim components, not because Devcon designed it for spas specifically.
-
Cured bonds reach up to 1,300–3,500 psi in tensile lap shear strength (depending on the substrate) and hold up across a -67°F to 250°F service range, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor-exposed repairs.
-
The 25 ml Dev-Tube has a built-in static mixer, so equal parts dispense pre-mixed as you apply. Clean and dry the surfaces first, apply within the 4–6 minute working time, then hold or clamp the pieces together while it sets.
-
You can, but since this is an industrial adhesive rather than a spa-specific repair product, we'd recommend testing on an inconspicuous area first to check color and finish compatibility before using it somewhere visible.
