BioGuard 5-Way test strips are a quick and easy way to test for Total Bromine, Free Chlorine, pH, Total Hardness and Total Alkalinity.
Total Bromine is the sanitizer residual in the water. Maintain a level of 1.0-3.0ppm for residential pools or 2.0-4.0ppm for spas. If too low, add BioGuard brominating products for pools or SpaGuard brominating products for spas
Free Chlorine is the sanitizer residual in the water. Maintain a level of 1.0-4.0ppm for residential pools or 3.0-5.0ppm for spas.If too low, add BioGuard chlorinating products for pools and SpaGuard chlorinating products for spas.
pH should be kept between 7.4 and 7.6 for best results. If too high, add BioGuard Lo N' Slo for pools or SpaGuard Lo N' Slo for spas. If too low, BioGuard Balance Pak 200 for pools and SpaGuard Balance Pak 200 for spas.
Total Alkalinity is a very important measure of the water's ability to resist pH swings. It should be between 125ppm to 150ppm. Total Hardness is the measurement of the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium in water and should be maintained between 175-275 ppm depending on your pool surface.

Frog @ease SmartChlor Technology Test Strips easily test the chlorine level in hot tubs using the Frog @ease sanitizing system. Each strips tests for SmartChlor, Total Alkalinity, pH and Total Hardness. Results are ready in just 2 seconds.
With a technology as unique as FROG @ease, it only makes sense it would have a unique test strip. FROG @ease test strips let you know when your SmartChlor® Cartridge is empty. There is no need to measure the level of chlorine because it self regulates at the same level every time. Instead the single color on the bottle tells you your cartridge life is fine or you need to replace it.
How do FROG @ease Test Strips work?
In 2 seconds, you can know precisely whether your pH, Total Alkalinity and Hardness are balanced, plus whether or not SmartChlor® needs replacing. Simply dip the FROG @ease Test Strip into the water, remove with the pads facing up and shake once to remove the water on the FROG Test Strips. Then hold it up next to the color chart on the back of the bottle to compare colors. If the SmartChlor color on the strip is darker than the bottle label, the water is fine. If it is lighter it’s time to replace the Smartchlor Cartridge.
What if I use regular test strips with my FROG product? Regular test strips will be confusing because they will read a low free chlorine level and a high total chlorine level which normally means it’s time to shock. With FROG @ease, it means the product is self-regulating perfectly to meet the sanitizing needs of your hot tub and no action is required. How does water balance affect FROG @ease? It is very important that you check the Total Alkalinity and pH of the hot tub at least once a week to make sure it is staying in the correct range of 80-20 for TA and 7.2 to 7.8 for pH. SmartChlor effectiveness will drop if the water is not balanced. How are FROG Test Strips different from FROG @ease Test Strips? With SmartChlor Technology self-regulating the chlorine level, you don’t have to monitor it. So FROG @ease Test Strips have a simple out indicator to show when the SmartChlor Cartridge is empty. FROG Test Strips are for anyone using a FROG product with standard chlorine or bromine. It helps monitor those levels in the ideal range when using FROG minerals, so you get the most from Fresh Mineral Water.

By design, hot tub test strips contain highly sensitive chemical pads. They have a shelf life of only about 18 months. Expiration dates matter with these things. We check our inventory regularly to ensure we do not sell strips that have expired or are close to their expiration date. Please don't cut corners by using strips from three years ago. A 50-count bottle costs $12 and is far cheaper than flushing out your jets and pumps because your water chemistry got out of balance. Likewise, please don't "stock up" on this item. That would be like "stocking up" on fresh milk; these things have an expiration date, so it's best to make small, regular purchases.
We get it. Some of you are here looking for a cheap thing to get free shipping. That's legitimate, but if you are buying an @Ease System (for general hot tubs or for Bullfrog hot tubs), these strips won't work. Consider buying some SCUMBALLS instead. SCUMBALLS work with all sanitizers and water chemistries. They are cheap, effective, and fun.
