The label says they quickly decrease the pH level of the water to provide bather comfort and protect spa and swim spa equipment. SpaGuard® lists each dose as lowering pH by 0.1–0.2 units. The bottle holds 1.25 lb (567 g) of tablets.

Test pH and total alkalinity first; the target pH is 7.2–7.6. Add the number of tablets the label directs for your spa's volume with the pump running while the spa is unoccupied, let the water circulate, and retest before adding more. Lower pH in small steps, because acid also lowers total alkalinity.

The label carries the DANGER signal word: corrosive, causes burns to eyes and skin irritation. Keep the bottle out of reach of children, read all precautions on the label before handling, and never mix it with other chemicals. These tabs are a water balancer and do not sanitize the spa. For granular dosing, SpaGuard® pH Decreaser is the alternative.
