The label calls for pH to be kept at 7.2 to 7.6, as measured by an accurate test method. High pH can cause cloudy water and scale and makes sanitizers less effective. It is a dry granular acid (sodium bisulfate) that the label describes as safer and easier to use than liquid acids, in a 22 oz bottle.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTest pH, and make sure total alkalinity reads at least 125 ppm before adding this product. Then use the label chart: in a 200-gallon spa, 0.5 tsp lowers a 7.6–7.8 reading, 0.75 tsp a 7.8–8.0 reading and 1.5 tsp an 8.0–8.4 reading; a 1,000-gallon spa takes 2, 4 and 7.5 tsp. One level capful equals 2 teaspoons (0.5 oz), so the cap works as a measure. With the pump operating and the spa unoccupied, sprinkle it into the water and let the pump circulate for 30 minutes. In spas with an aerator, turn the aerator off before adding it. Retest and adjust as needed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDo not add it near metal fittings, do not let pH drop below 7.2, and brush away any undissolved product so it does not sit on the spa surface. The label carries the DANGER signal word: causes severe burns. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing, wear goggles or safety glasses and rubber gloves, avoid breathing the dust, and never mix it with other chemicals. Keep it dry in the original tightly sealed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
